Information about herpes generated by a computer . . . as opposed to a therapist. . .

Herpes is a viral infection caused by one of two types of herpes simplex virus (HSV): HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 typically causes oral herpes, which is characterized by cold sores or fever blisters on or around the mouth, while HSV-2 typically causes genital herpes, which is characterized by sores or blisters on or around the genitals, anus, or thigh.

Some common symptoms of herpes include:

  1. Small, painful, fluid-filled blisters or sores on the genitals, anus, or mouth.
  2. Tingling, itching, or burning in the area where the blisters or sores will appear.
  3. Swollen lymph nodes in the groin area.
  4. Headache, fever, or muscle aches.
  5. Fatigue.

It's important to note that some people who are infected with herpes may not experience any symptoms, but they can still spread the virus to others.

Herpes is caused by a virus, and once someone is infected, the virus remains in their body for life. There is no cure for herpes, but antiviral medication can help to reduce the severity and frequency of outbreaks and can also help to reduce the risk of transmitting the virus to others.

It's recommended to see a healthcare provider if you suspect that you have herpes or if you have been exposed to the virus. They can help to diagnose the condition and determine the best course of treatment.
